In response to the mounting challenge of climate change, Act Now worked with the financial services firm Allianz to develop and launch the global civic engagement initiative "dropping knowledge", which can be found on the web at www.droppingknowledge.org. Dropping knowledge is a Web 2.0 dialogue project that brings together leaders from the non-profit, business, and governmental spheres to discuss solutions to global challenges. For this project, Act Now worked with co-founder and acclaimed filmmaker Ralf Schmerberg and his Berlin-based team, along with dropping knowledge co-founders and activists Jackie Wallace and Cindy Gantz, to structure a global non-profit communication organization that would achieve the vision of the founders. As the risks of climate change impact the balance sheets of an increasing number of global corporations, innovative civic engagement projects like dropping knowledge help to create a proactive point of dialogue between corporations and civil society in ways that quasi-governmental organizations have failed to do.
