As an integral part of its strategy to become a global leader in sustainability, Wal-Mart hired Act Now to design and implement a program that would educate and engage the heart and soul of the organization – its 1.3 million U.S. Associates. In the late spring of 2006, Act Now created the Personal Sustainability Project (“PSP”), an innovative framework and educational curriculum to inspire, motivate, and empower the Associates in personal and community sustainability. In conjunction with designing and deploying the largest grassroots initiative ever undertaken in the corporate arena, Act Now has become a driving force behind Wal-Mart’s internal sustainability communications. From an internal sustainability magazine and television series to advising on sustainable product selection and placement, Act Now is helping to shape the future of sustainability within the Wal-Mart organization. As the company’s sustainability initiative continues to gain momentum, more and more of the world’s largest companies are following Wal-Mart’s momentous lead.
